Singer MIA could face a fine for flipping the middle finger at the 2012 Super Bowl
British Singer, MIA may be penalised for flipping the middle finger during the 2012 Super Bowl at Madonna’s halftime show. MIA could possibly be fined hundreds of thousands under the her contract. In less than 24 hours after MIA flipped the finger officials are already pointing the finger and distancing themselves.
NBC blamed the National Football League saying that it was the NFL who hired the talent and produced the half-time show. The NFL blamed NBC saying that there was a failure in their delay system. NFL apologised soon after saying that the obscene gesture was inappropriate and disappointing.
The Federal Communications Commission also known as the FCC pursued CBS for Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl. CBS was nearly forced to pay a $550,000 fine. However, if such a fine is pursued it would be MIA and not NBC who would be responsible to pay it.
