24 soldiers were killed during an attack in Turkey early Wednesday 19th October 2011. 18 soldiers were also injured. Turkish President,Abdullah Gul said that rockets were launched at security forces and military sites in the town of Cukurca.

When President Abdullah Gul spoke about the attack on television he blamed it on terrorism. Abdullah Gul stated that it is their decision to continue the struggle against terrorism without giving any concessions. Gul also cautioned that many who inflict them will pain will endure pain on themselves many times over.

Edrogan said that military was seeking those responsible and that wide-scale operations were continuing in the region. Edrogan also said that the Turkish state would breathe down the neck the of anyone who supported or helped in terrorism. He also urged for there to be unity among the country’s people.

The government has not yet specified who they believe is responsible for the attack. Upon news of the attack Edrogan cancelled his trip to Kazakhstan scheduled for Wednesday.
