BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – A flash flood warning was issued for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and neighboring islands Tuesday.
According to the local Met Office at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, the Antigua and Barbuda Met Office has issued a flash flood warning for the low laying and flood prone areas of Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, and the British Virgin islands until 2 P.M. today Tuesday.
“A flash flood means that moderate to major flooding is imminent or occurring in low lying and flood prone areas,” the statement said.
It said that an active tropical wave is crossing the Eastern Caribbean and significant showers and thunder storms are embedded which could result in rapid buildup of water on the ground.
It advised residents in the affected islands to safeguard themselves against such possibilities.
