Chris Paul trade deal has been resubmitted for approval from the NBA League

Chris Paul trade deal has been resubmitted for approval from the NBA LeagueThe LA Lakers, Hornets and Rockets have revised their three-way trade proposal and resubmitted to the NBA League for approval. LA Lakers Pau Gasol was set to join the Rockets and LA Lakers would get Chris Paul. Dell Demps, Hornets general manager was reportedly told by the NBA League to focus on getting younger players in order to build the future of the Hornets.

Reportedly Kevin Martin was told by the Rockets not to attend heir practice on Saturday. On Friday NBA commissioner David Stern released a statement as to why the league stopped the trade. Stern stated that all decisions were made based on what was best for the Hornets. According to Stern since finals decisions lies with the Commissioners office in consultation with the team’s chairman Jac Sperling they decided without the influence of other NBA owners that the team was better off with Paul in the Hornets than the outcome of the trade.

Dan Gilbert owner of the Cavaliers reportedly wrote a letter that argued that the LA Lakers would benefit far too much by getting Paul and were too great for the league to approve. Gilbert said in the letter that the LA Lakers would save $20 million in salaries and $21 million in luxury taxes. Demps said on Friday that since that deal did not go through they would keep trying to see if they could get a deal for the team.
