The iPhone 4S has proved a global sensation since it was released in 2011. This success can be attributed to the wealth of excellent features offered by the model. One great feature on the device is the excellent Safari web browser that enables users to view internet content on the device. We take a closer look at this aspect of the 4S.
The iPhone 4S features the new iOS5.1 operating system and one area of this software that has been enhanced is the Safari web browser. Since 2007 when the original iPhone was launched the Safari software has provided users with a browser that is both easy to use and packed full of features. The new version is the best to date and the one area where we noticed some major changes was for browsing speeds. We tested the model to see how long it took a full internet site to load on the phone and we were very impressed that the majority took under two seconds. What was particularly impressive is that the speeds were similar on both WiFi and 3G connections. When comparing the phone to the original iPhone 4 most sites loaded approximately 3 seconds faster. These figures are very impressive and it got even better when we looked at sites that offered mobile versions with these examples loading almost instantly.
In an effort to help Safari compete with a range of Android browsers Apple have included a new Reader mode on the iPhone 4S. This mode lets consumers read articles and news stories that are featured on a website without any additional material cluttering the page. The text is displayed in a simple black font on a white background that looks very similar to what many e reader devices currently offer. This may prove a great alternative to the Android versions that allow consumers to zoom in to the page and then the text will adjust to fit this magnification. A host of usual features are once again present on this model. Tabbed browsing is supported which means that several web pages can be open at the same time which makes it simple to flick between different sites. Pages can also be bookmarked but a difference in this area is that pages can now be stored and viewed offline at a later time.
If you are looking for a mobile smartphone that delivers an excellent internet package then the iPhone 4S may be the model for you. The Safari browser once again proves it is one of the ultimate mobile browsers with its great features and new additions such as the new Reader mode. Performance times have also increased meaning that users can enjoy a web browsing experience similar to what they can expect from a home computer or laptop.
