Android Jellybean Update Already On The Way To The Sony Xperia Z

images (2)One of the first major smartphone launches of 2013 took place a few weeks ago in Las Vegas, with the eagerly anticipated Sony Xperia Z officially announced at the Consumer Electronics Show.

The device appears to have lived up to expectations, with features of the phone including LTE connectivity, 13MP camera, 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and 5-inch HD display. It was also able to get IP55 and IP57 certifications for proof of its waterproof and dustproof attributes.

As expected the Sony Xperia Z runs the Google-owned OS, in its latest Android 4.1 Jellybean version. But a report from Phones Review has suggested the possibility that the Japanese manufacturer’s latest flagship device will soon receive an update to the new Android 4.2.2 Jellybean OS.

The update will bring yet more impressive features to the phone. The purpose of the update is primarily to improve performance so you will notice a faster interface, making use of the handset’s ample processing power. Also, Android Jellybean 4.2.2 will be bringing exciting features like the capacity to stream content wirelessly two compatible devices. The camera will also have new settings and effects added, as well as lockscreen access to widgets. The Google Now feature will also be added along with gesture based typing. While this update will bring exciting new features, the current instalment of Google still provides excellent features and performance, and the Xperia Z is likely to be one of the most popular smartphone models of the year. However, it will soon be facing tough competition from the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, although the Xperia Z is soon to hit European markets so should be able to clock up impressive sales before the potentially market-dominating Galaxy S4 is launch. The handset is currently only available in France and Japan. The device has reportedly already sold out in France, and 140,000 sales of the device were reported in its first week by a Japanese network.

The Xperia Z is expected to land in the UK next month, so we will keep you informed of all the best deals available for this impressive device which is set to be carried by all major UK networks.
