Proving to be one of the most successful mobile phone devices of the year, The Samsung Galaxy S3 was released in May 2012. Due to its success Apple are considering an earlier launch for the eagerly awaited iPhone 5, breaking tradition from their normal September launch.
Much like it predecessor, the Galaxy S2, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to reach the ten million mark just two months after it’s release. The relatively early launch of this model has taken a large proportion of Apple market’s share and because of this Apple are keen to unveil the new iPhone 5 as soon as possible. This will give Apple the opportunity to compete with Samsung in terms of sales while also diverting media attention back in their direction. The Galaxy range of handsets are widely regarded as the iPhone’s nearest competitor although there is speculation that the new iPhone 5 will prove to be the best smartphone ever released. However, four months is a rather large head start to give to Samsung, hence the rumour of an August launch for this new model. Apple are not normally known as a company to change their production process in reaction to their competitors actions but this may be necessary in this instance. The Galaxy S3 is on course to break sales records and in order for the new iPhone to compete it needs to be competing head to head in the marketplace.
The iPhone 5 will be providing the highest possible specification and will be packed with all of the latest features. The design of the iPhone 5 is rumored to sport a new metallic chassis and a new curved screen. The screen is rumoured to be a 4inch display, a whole half an inch larger than the iPhone 4S. An increase in the resolution is also expected to ensure that impressive pixel density of the 4S is maintained. The iPhone 5 is expected to be the fastest device around thanks to its new chipset featuring a powerful quad core processor which will be teamed with multi tasking offered by the new iOS6 operating system. This along with it’s stylish looks will appeal to a wide range of consumers. The new iPhone 5 is also set to support enhanced Siri functionality, meaning more tasks will be able to be performed by this excellent voice recognition service.
Apples reaction to the launch of the Galaxy S3 is to let us meet the new iPhone 5 ahead of schedule. We may see the new handset as early as August enabling Apple to overshadow Samsung’s latest release.
