Two new handsets have recently been launched by HTC to showcase Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 8 operating system. These are HTC 8X which is the higher end device, with the mid range offering called the HTC 8S.
As you would expect from the manufacturer, both of these phones incorporate a number of impressive specifications. The HTC 8X has a slightly more advanced spec list on account of it being a higher end device, with key features including a 4.3 inch HD display, 16 GB internal storage, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera and integrated Beats Audio for enhanced sound quality.
Because the HTC 8S is the more affordable phone of the pair, it has a few downgraded features but its spec list is impressive nonetheless. Key features include a 4 inch display, 4 GB of internal storage (although this is expandable via the microSD slot), 1 GHz dual-core processor and 5 megapixel camera. While this device is sure to prove popular, it appears that the HTC 8S may not be getting launched in the United States. The Taiwan based manufacturer has said that it will be concentrating on the 8X model over in the US so it receives most attention in terms of advertising and promotion. Furthermore, T-Mobile USA has stated that it has delayed testing of the HTC 8X model with its networks, so his pretty much confirms that the HTC 8S will not be released in the United States at all.
The Windows Phone 8 platform has already seen encouraging early sales, particularly from the Nokia Lumia 920. In a market dominated by Android and iOS powered smartphones, the new releases from Nokia and HTC look set to offer a refreshing alternative.
