If you own an HTC One X, then I am sure that you would love to know how to unlock the phone’s bootloader. You do not have to be a genius to do this. As a matter of fact, it is quite easy. All you have to do is to read and follow the instructions given here.
You can now use the official bootloader unlocking tool from HTC. Using the said HTC released bootloader unlocking tool on the One X will give both users and developers the ability to install custom ROMs on the said handset. HTC was kind enough to put together a dummy proof instruction manual that will guide users through all of the steps.
The steps will take you at least 20 to 30 minutes to get the phone’s unlock key and unlock command to officially unlock the bootloader on the HTC One X. Majority of the time is spent on getting ADB and HTC Sync set up and running through ten steps to locate the phone’s unique identifier token. HTC could have made the process easier but this should not discourage users from rooting their handsets and getting into things they should not be toying with.
Using the phone’s official bootloader unlocking process can automatically void the phone’s warranty and will totall erase all of the data on your handset. You have to ensure that you have a backup file of important data on your handset before you start with it.
Steps on how to unlock bootloader:
- Use the phone’s Android SDK to run fast boot command and request the device identifier token
- Note: The identifier token is then passed to the PC console
- You will then submit device ID token via HTCdev.com portal
- After you receive validation, server emails the Unlock Key and commands that you can use
- You will then unlock the device using the Unlock Command and the Unlock Key
It is as simple as that. Again, it will only take you at least 20 to 30 minutes to complete the whole process of unlocking bootloader on the HTC One X.
