Possible iPhone 5 Screen Delays

Apple LogoWith the buzz of the world reaching fever pitch as we await the launch date of the new iPhone 5, news comes from China that there will be a possible hold-up as Apple struggles to supply the screens for the new gadget. Manufacturing delays were always going to happen but maybe Apple has been pushed into bringing the launch date earlier which has affected the demand?

Sharp, the electronics company, are said to be manufacturing the screens but have been quoted in having ‘familiar problems with manufacturing’ which hints at the screens being delayed. This is dreadful news for new iPhone 5 owners and those waiting for the new phone to be released, as it could well mean that the prices for the earliest ones rises. This sounds like bad news but thankfully at Mobile Phone Checker, we compare mobile phone contracts and device prices from a myriad of suppliers, retailers and networks to bring the best and cheapest prices around in a matter of seconds.

The new Sharp screen that will be used for the new iPhone 5 will be thinner and have a touchscreen layer inside the display. This means it will be less prone to knocks, dints and being damaged from severe use. The reports are that it will be a longer screen, but not wider, so you’ll still have to scroll sideways but you will be able to see more mobile websites easier from a lengthways perspective. Controversially, the 30-pin dock connector will be dropped in favour of a smaller, thinner 15 pin one, which has angered some Apple fans as they have many other devices that take the 30-pin connector, such as music stations, car connectors etc.

Many accessories will now be obsolete because of the new pin connector but this paves the way for a new generation of smartphones as that was essentially a 2003 product. With wireless connectivity called AirPlay, meaning that you can connect remotely to wireless speakers without LAN, it means that the loss of the pin connector isn’t as bad as we’d imagined. We only have to wait around 9 days to hear from the official spokesperson for Apple, which will be held in California, whereby we will be able to get a real answer for when the phone will be launched and when pre-ordering can commence. The chances of the supply/demand issue being addressed remains to be seen.

As we’ve been waiting seemingly 12 months for the new iPhone 5, or longer as we were expecting the iPhone 4S to be a true replacement for the 4, this month sees a huge change for the smartphone world. With Mobile Phone Checker being primed and ready for the networks and retailers’ special offers, customers looking for the iPhone 5 price or launch date will be able to get a good idea of when the UK will get it from our site. Thanks to our mobile phone price comparison engine customers will be able to compare iPhone 5 deals and get a great deal in just a few weeks’ time.
