Invitations were sent to media for Google’s event, which is scheduled to kick off on the 29th of October. It is believed that the LG Nexus 4 will be unveiled at the event
The search giant will be holding the event in New York City. It will start at 10am in the US, 2pm in the UK. On the invitation, a colourful New York skyline is shown. Furthermore, enclosed in a search box are the words “The playground is open.”
Google’s special event will be held on the same day, a few hours before, Microsoft’s windows Phone 8 launch. Is this a coincidence? We don’t think so. Google is likely diverting the attention from Microsoft. Apple did the same when it sent invitations to its iPad mini (7.85-inch version of the new iPad), which will be kicking off three days before Microsoft makes their Surface tablet, powered by Windows 8, go on sale.
We’ve been seeing a lot of leaks concerning the rumoured LG Nexus 4, a Nexus smartphone based on the LG Nexus G. This means that we may see the rumoured device for the first time at Google’s event.
The LG Nexus 4 is believed to be the first smartphone to run Android 4.2. Android 4.2 is said to be a minor update of Jelly Bean (Android 4.1). A recent leak has also given us our first glimpse of Android 4.2, revealing a second notification bar by swiping twice from the top of the phone’s display. The second notification bar is also the location of ‘Quick Settings’. Sadly, we are yet to hear more on what these quick settings have to offer.
