It seems LG and Qualcomm is bent on launching a superphone that will give the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 a run for its money. The Korean Firm and chip maker have sent out invites suggesting the arrival of the Optimus G.
The two companies’ invite reads, “LG and Qualcomm invite you to live without boundaries.” This hints the launching of a quad-core superphone. The event will be held in New York and will be kicking off on the 19th of September.
Since LG and Qualcomm will be hosting the event, it’s a given that the device will sport a Qualcomm-made processor. The Optimus G comes with a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor with LTE support. So the event might be the debut of the superphone.
Other specs include a 4.7-inch display with a pixel count of 320ppi, just 6ppi short of the iPhone’s 326ppi. It also includes a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with Cheese Mode. Cheese Mode allows users to snap a picture by saying a specific word.
The Optimus G connects to LTE net works. Since this is a 4G device, it was once thought that it would not be headed to the UK. Since EE (Everything Everywhere) will be launching its 4GEE network by the end of 2012, we might just see the network offering the superphone.
HTC will be unveiling its first Windows Phone 8 devices on the same day. It will be the third to unveil Windows Phone 8 devices. The first was Samsung with the Ativ S. Next was Nokia with the Lumia 820 and 920. So LG might unveil its WP8 devices as well, but we’re guessing it’s the Optimus G that will be making its debut.
Will LG and Qualcomm debut the Optimus G on its event kicking off on the 19th of September, or will it be unveiling Windows Phone 8 devices? Let us know your opinion through a comment.
