Looking At The Sense UI On The HTC One X

The HTC One X is the new flagship model in the Korean manufacturers range and one impressive aspect of this new phone is the improved user interface that it sports. We have a look at this area of the phone in a little more detail.

Many manufacturers choose to use their own user interfaces on their phones in a bid to make using the handset a much more simple and less complicated affair. HTC have traditionally used their own Sense UI and the new HTC One X boasts an updated version of this attractive system. Many users of previous versions of this software have commented that the interface was over complicated so it is refreshing to see a new simplified version on this model. The format still gives user seven homescreens on which they can place their various icons and widgets. Each screen can be accessed with a side swipe on the screen or users can use a pinching motion on the screen to bring up an overview of all seven pages. From this screen it is easy to select the page that is required. The swiping gestures that are used on this model also feel faster than ever because of the powerful quad core processor which forms part of the Tegra 3 chipset used by the phone.

HTC have applied a very minor change to the interface of this model that has had quite a major effect on the visual appearance of the UI. The HTC One X uses a new font named Roboto and this looks much more modern and stylish than the font type used on previous versions. One area where you are likely to see a lot of text is in the notifications centre. Users can reach this area of the phone by simply swiping downwards on any of the homescreens. The notifications centre displays various alerts such as missed calls and incoming e mails but strangely it is also where the settings are now located for the phone. There can often be numerous alerts to view and discarding unwanted ones is quite simple with a swipe to the left or the right. The One X offers superb multi tasking speeds and HTC have incorporated a multitasking feature on the phone so that users can easily view and manage what applications they are running at any moment in time.

The new and improved Sense user interface featured on the HTC One X is a joy to use and delivers an exceptional user experience. The UI is as visually appealing as ever and the model certainly comes close to what the famous iOS software offers on the iPhone 4S.
