The Samsung Galaxy S4 is currently hitting the headlines in the mobile phone industry following its launch last week. This device is expected to become the most popular smartphone model of 2013, following in the footsteps of its Galaxy S3 predecessor.
While the Galaxy S4 is one of Samsung’s first high profile smartphone launches of the year, the company is currently also working on the next instalment of its popular Galaxy Note phablet series. The current Galaxy Note 2 model remains a popular choice, and has helped to cement Samsung’s position as a market leader in the phablet niche. As the Galaxy Note 3 is currently unofficially announced by Samsung, there has been plenty of speculation about its features. Unwired View has recently reported on new information about the possible specifications of the device.
The website reports that an unnamed but apparently trustworthy source has revealed information about the phone’s features. The source claims that the device will come with an Exynos 5 octa-core 5410 processor with an eight core Mali 450 GPU. As with previous models, the screen is likely to be the standout feature of the device and is believed to measure 6 inches. Apparently though, the handset will have thinner bezels at the edge of the screen, so although the screen is larger than that of the Galaxy Note 2, the handset will apparently around the same size. In recent weeks, there has been speculation that the Galaxy Note 3 would sport a flexible and unbreakable display, but Samsung has confirmed that this has been ruled out for the Galaxy Note 3. Other recent speculation about the Galaxy Note 3 has suggested that it will be the first Galaxy Note device with an aluminium casing. Given the success of aluminium smartphones like the Apple iPhone 5 and HTC one, it would not be much of a surprise if Samsung decided to ditch the plastic casing on the Galaxy Note 3 in favour of aluminium.
It is believed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be unveiled at the IFA trade show in Berlin this September, but we are likely to hear much more news about the device before then, so will be sure to keep you posted when we hear more.
