Since its launch in November, the Nokia Lumia 920 has launched a new era for its Finnish manufacturer. Nokia has somewhat fallen from grace over the last few years after being unable to compete with the likes of Samsung and Apple. However, the recently launched Lumia 920 has quickly achieved outstanding levels of both commercial success and critical acclaim.
Reports continue to come in of sold out stocks and high pre-order demand for the Lumia 920 handset from retailers and networks around the world. As a result of demand, Nokia’s production facilities in Asia have been largely unable to fulfil orders placed by retailers as a result of high demand.
The Lumia 920 was launched alongside a mid range offering called the Lumia 820, and both have become very successful in a relatively short period of time. However, the Lumia 800 which was launched last year, sporting a previous version of Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system has recently seen a resurge in popularity in Finland, homeland of its manufacturer. According to NokiaPowerUser, one of the biggest mobile network operators in Finland Elisa has released its sales reports for 2012. It shows the Nokia Lumia 800 was the most popular phone for private customers, and the second most popular choice for business customers.
The popularity of older smartphone models has also been replicated by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone 4S. Because the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 were launched last year, many networks and retailers decided to reduce the price of older models to provide a more affordable alternative, resulting in ongoing strong sales. It appears that this has also been the case with the Nokia Lumia 800 and Finland. Learn more about the Nokia Lumia 800 and find your perfect Nokia Lumia 800 Contract on our website.
Of course, the Lumia 920 has also been a popular choice in Finland, and Elisa has reported that it was the third bestselling smartphone model of the year for private customers (despite only being launched in November), and the top choice for its business customers.
