Previously, reports said that Windows Phone 7.8 would be available for Nokia’s Windows Phone 7.5 handsets (the Lumia 510, the Lumia 610, the Lumia 710, the Lumia 800, and the Lumia 900) towards the end of January, with O2 tweeting this on Twitter as well as confirmation by Windows Phone Columbia on its Facebook page. It’s now March and no update has rolled out, which may make you wonder what happened. According to a report, the update is available, but Microsoft has “temporarily” suspended it.
This is according to Omio. It quotes Ray Haddow, Manager at Nokia UK Communications. He says, “Microsoft has identified a minor issue in the Windows Phone 7.8 update and have temporarily paused delivery until it’s addressed. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.”
Sadly, he fails to mention what minor issue delayed the update’s rollout or when to expect it.
According to the site, “Owners of those other mobile phones are said to receive a message on their devices, encouraging them to get the update.
“This is applied by connecting an older Lumia to a PC and running Zune, or the Windows Phone app for Macs, and then following the on-screen instructions.”
