With new smartphones offering increasingly impressive spec lists, it can be difficult to choose which smartphone is the best. Devices which have hit the market in 2013 include the HTC One, Sony Xperia Z and Samsung Galaxy S4, with each model boasting of higher levels of processing power than their nearest rivals.
While each phone offers impressive attributes, Phones Review has recently reported on a benchmark test carried out on seven of the highest spec smartphones on the market. The test was carried out by a popular consumer advice publication Which?, in order to find out which model offers the best performance when it comes to processing power.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 came out in first position, thanks to its powerful 1.9 GHz quad-core processor. In last place, was Apple’s popular iPhone 5. While this device remains one of the most popular smartphones on the market, its processing power is considerably less than that of Samsung’s flagship device, with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. After the Galaxy S4, was the HTC One in second place, followed by the Sony Xperia Z, Google Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Blackberry Z10 respectively. The results of the test ranked each smartphone model on memory and performance, and saw the Galaxy S4 achieve a score of 3188. In second place was the HTC One, with a score of 2798, demonstrating the considerable lead the Samsung Galaxy S4 has over its nearest rival. To demonstrate the difference between the Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5, Apple’s flagship device only achieved a score of 1664.
While the results of the test demonstrate that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is by far the most powerful handset on the market, consumers would be unlikely to notice a difference in performance in real world use. However, the results of the test cement the reputation of the Samsung Galaxy S4 as the highest performing smartphone model available.
