Back in September, Apple launched the eagerly anticipated iPhone 5. This was the first Apple device to come with the latest iOS 6 software as standard, and shortly after the launch of the phone Apple also rolled out the software update to a number of existing compatible devices which encompasses a wide range of different iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad models.
As you may expect, the iOS 6 update quickly found its way onto hundreds of millions of devices around the world. Although the update brings plenty of impressive new features to the table, it has also been the most controversial update to Apple’s mobile operating system so far. There have been numerous complaints about various parts of the software.
As a result, there is no doubt that Apple is already hard at work creating the next version of iOS, likely to be called iOS 7. According to an article over at iPhone5newsblog, we can expect the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system to see the biggest overhaul to its UI to date. This would certainly not be a surprise, as many consumers are now more aware than ever of the advantages of competing platforms such as Android or Windows Phone 8, which offer widget functionality and live tiles for far more interactive, easy to use and convenient user experience compared to the basic application grid layout found on iOS. Contributions to the block have suggested that we are likely to see a feature similar to live tiles found on Windows Phone 8 in the next version of iOS.
